Traveller Reviews

  • My only real disappointment was the Akademie Guest House – I am not sure why it is as highly rated as it is, given the cost. There was nothing wrong but I did not think it was so special.

  • This hotel in Franschhoek was quite nice. We had a two-story house to ourselves (the Gelatenheid Unit) and the service was very good. It's a small boutique hotel and has a very home-like feel.

  • An incredible find! To have so much space to spread out in, was lovely. It had also become extremely warm by this time but the cool interior of the cottage and shady garden was a real bonus! Our hosts could not have done more for us. I would highly recommend Akademie Street.

  • The room at Akademie Street Guesthouse was lovely and huge. The location was great and breakfast was fantastic. Katherine was a lovely hostess, although we found Arthur a bit on the quiet side. The only problem we had with Franschhoek was, we wished we had another day or two there! As we arrived rather late, we only had one day for wine tasting and shopping. The second day we went BACK to Hermanus as our shark diving trip was cancelled while we were staying at Birkenhead House. That was also amazing, and well worth backtracking for.
