The Taj Cape Town is a luxurious tribute to the grand architecture of the original South African Reserve Bank and the old BoE building, constructed in 1890. The building has been impeccably restored, and features interiors designed to recreate an era of glamour with a distinctly Indian influence. The hotel is ideal for guests wanting an upmarket holiday experience where no detail is missed and every opportunity for refinement is offered.

The hotel is located within walking distance of the Company Gardens, St George’s Mall, St George’s Cathedral and Greenmarket Square, and is ideally situated for easy access to all of Cape Town’s attractions. Nearby must-see sites include Table Mountain, the excellent beaches at Camps Bay and Clifton, and the world-class shopping at the V&A Waterfront. For the ultimate in pampering and relaxation, guests can visit the Jiva Grande Spa for a range of traditional Indian wellness treatments.

  • The Taj had a perfect location, and even though we rented a car we also walked a lot around in Cape Town.

To be honest the hotel has been and is one of my favourites in Cape Town and short of not being at the Waterfront the hotel has everything a 5 star luxury establishment can offer ! I particularly like the “old flair” in the lobby area and the charm of ancient days. It really adds to it. We also were very surprised of the extensive wine and brandy tasting facilities and the art walk which we think is fantastic ! The rooms are large and beautiful and we have no complaints whatsoever. We also feel Twankey is great and offers such a great difference to Bombay so something for everyone. Personally I feel the Taj is a great product in a good location, lovely rooms – a good all round choice for any luxury traveller!
