Close to the world-famous dunes of Sossusvlei, Moon Mountain Lodge is a luxury tented camp situated in the strikingly beautiful Namib Naukluft Nature Reserve in southern Namibia. The spacious canvas and recycled-plastic tents are raised on stilts and gaze out on the purple-coloured mountains and towering dunes of the ancient Namib Desert.

Explore the surrounding desert on 4x4 dune and game drives, by foot on mountain trails or from up high on hot-air balloon or scenic aeroplane flights. The region offers superb photography opportunities, not least at Sossusvlei some 50km away and you can also enjoy a day trip to nearby Sesriem Canyon.

To preserve the peace and quiet of this desert retreat there are no televisions in the rooms; however, there is a small cinema at the camp for movie nights, or you can marvel at the incredible stars from the deck adjoining the Cosmos Bar and Nebula Restaurant.

The famous dunes at Soussesvlei are about 50km away and the area surrounding Moon Mountain Lodge is an adventure playground with 4x4 dune and game drives, mountain trails, hot air ballooning and scenic flights all available in the vicinity.

Dining

Traditional, hearty Namibian cuisine is served at the lodge's Nebula Restaurant which is decorated in muted desert tones. Drink in the drama of a sunset over the spectacular desert landscape from the extensive deck that adjoins the Cosmos Bar and provides sensational views of the Namib Desert. Later on, millions of stars rush out into the night sky to provide sensational stargazing opportunities.

The 11 luxury Tented Rooms and six Executive Suites each open out onto private decks with a private splash pool to escape the desert heat.

Other Room Types

The Suites at Moon Mountain are particularly spacious and feature a lounge area under canvas and luxurious bathrooms which include a big tub for soaking in. There are also four Standard Rooms with an en suite toilet and shower - these are best suited for older children or drivers/guides.
