overview

Botswana's vast and unspoilt Central Kalahari Game Reserve is one of the largest and least-visited conservation areas in the world - it's also home to the beautiful Tau Pan Camp, overlooking a permanent waterhole and the seemingly endless Kalahari horizon, and providing the ideal base from which to gain a once-in-a-lifetime Kalahari experience.

A year-round destination, the best time to go to the Kalahari is between early December and April when the warm summer rains rejuvenate the region: many antelope species give birth, flocks of migrant birds arrive and the Kalahari predators - lion, cheetah, wild dog, brown hyena, jackal and leopard - are in their element. Explore the reserve on 4x4 game drives or on guided bush walks with the San Bushmen who will teach you the finer details of survival in this hugely rewarding environment.
