Situated in the area bordering the magnificent Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Engagi Lodge not only boasts uninterrupted views over this green canopy, but also has a low impact on the environment. Built from locally sourced materials by members of the surrounding communities, Engagi blends in with its surroundings and offers a naturally rustic atmosphere that complements the beautiful forest.

Explore this forest as you go on private walking trails around the lodge and down to the nearby river. Pay a visit to the working tea farm on the premises and take a tour of the plantations for a unique insight into one of Uganda’s biggest industries.

General Facilities

The restaurant at Engagi Lodge looks out over the forested canopy and offers a warm, relaxed place in which to relax as you enjoy a range of exquisite 3-course meals. The in-house chefs are trained in the Kampala way and will be happy to cater for special dietary requirements on request.

Standard Room

You'll experience absolute privacy and an exclusive feel at Engagi as there are only 8 cottages, evenly spaced and hidden by the dense foliage.

Each cottage is stylishly furnished, spacious and has either a double bed or two twins. Each cottage has an en suite bathroom with hot and cold running water. The electricity at the lodge is supplied by solar power to minimise the impact on the environment, while the hot water is supplied by wood-burning boilers.

Step out onto your private veranda in the morning and gaze out over the beautiful surroundings as you enjoy your morning coffee or locally produced tea.

Traveller Reviews

  • The first place where I could see myself properly in the bathroom mirror! Amazingly empty – we were the only guests on the second night, but made to feel very welcome by the staff. Free laundry facilities, but of course nothing got really dry. Gorilla tracking: worth every cent. We were very pleased that our ABB guide managed to get us in a group with other fit people & we made a whole day of the walk over the hills.

  • The place I liked the best, as you might expect, was Engagi, mainly because of the beautiful settings. I LOVED Engagi. No complaints whatsoever regarding all of that.
