An elegant and intimate lodge located in a private concession between Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks, Chem Chem offers spectacular views over Lake Manyara itself. Combining European style with African influences, this owner-run lodge brings together earthy yet modern elements.

Perfectly situated at the heart of the northern Tanzania safari experience, Chem Chem is a great choice for an itinerary that also takes in Tanzania's flagship destinations: the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. Take the time to relax here after all those early-morning starts on safari and enjoy a soothing massage or treatment at the spa.

There is also plenty on offer at Chem Chem: go on a 'slow safari' or a guided walking tour of the private concession, observe thousands of flamingos and other water birds on the lake, or take a private guided 4x4 safari to the nearby Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks. For an entirely different perspective, take a hot-air balloon safari and sail over the mesmerising landscape of the Great Rift Valley.

The Chem Chem concession, which is known for its large herds of buffalo and elephant, protects the traditional migratory corridor between Tarangire and Lake Manyara. Night drives and off-roading are permitted in the concession.

Lodge Suite

Each of the eight enormous luxury tents is positioned so that its private verandah affords picturesque lake views.

Wood, canvas and stone come together in a synthesis of modern and traditional moods that is entirely in tune with the gorgeous setting. Tasteful furnishings and décor touches add a stylish element without going over the top. An indoor and outdoor shower complements en suite facilities while signature toiletries add an elegant touch. A daybed is tucked away in the shade of the trees, making a perfect place to take in the scenery.
