Lucy Copson - Welcome to my profile!
I was born in Cape Town and spent many family holidays travelling around South Africa, most of which were in Hermanus and along the Garden Route. I have always loved travelling so after school I decided to study travel and tourism which first lead me overseas to au pair for two months in the USA and Vancouver.
I returned to Cape Town and started working for tour operators and that's when my real passion for travel developed. I got to travel all over South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Victoria Falls. I then moved abroad and lived in London for eight years, travelling a lot through the UK and Europe. I worked for tour operators in London and continued to travel through Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean islands. I visited Botswana a number of times as well as Zambia, Mozambique's Bazaruto Archipelago and the Seychelles.
I'm now back in Cape Town and here for good, living with my husband and beautiful twins just a stone's throw away from the beach. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends - just relaxing at home or out and about - but still love travelling and exploring, going somewhere new on holiday, taking a map and just pinpointing a random new destination. I also have a passion for running and I've conquered a few half marathons. My goal is the Two Oceans Ultra Marathon!
Where have I travelled
Locally, the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Kruger Park, Panorama Route, Sun City, Pilanesberg, Madikwe, Drakensberg and the KZN Battlefields. In Africa I've visited Namibia, Botswana, Victoria Falls, Zambia, Mozambique and the Seychelles. Internationally I've travelled to the USA, Vancouver, the UK, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Greece, France and Germany.
My favourite travel moment
I've got plenty! But my most memorable would have to be getting engaged in Zambia's South Luangwa National Park.
What I love about Africa
A world in one continent! So diverse!
Some African travel advice
You need to come and experience it for yourself! Everyone should visit Cape Town and a game reserve at least once in their lifetime - and don't rush it!
Where I'd love to go next
I want to get to Mauritius but my dream destination is probably Hawaii. But locally, I'd love to get back to the Kruger area - it's been far too long!
