Blog Posts & Recent Travels

This past November (2014) I enjoyed an extensive four-country trip through East Africa, visiting Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar, Uganda and Rwanda. What an exceptional experience! From gorilla trekking to flying over the Serengeti in a hot-air balloon, I've certainly fallen in love with this part of Africa! Be inspired by the highlights of my trip in my Go2Africa Facebook album.

Earlier in 2014 I visited Zambia for the first time in a long time. It was such a special trip - you can read about it in this travel blog post or view photos of the places I stayed at in this Pinterest album.

In 2013 I had the opportunity to visit Nambia with my collegues Liesel, Madelein and Joanne. Read all about our trip in our blog post, 'Our Recent Travels in Nambia: A Desert Adventure' and check out our amazing photos in our Google+ Album.

About Me

I grew up in Cape Town, lived and worked in Holland for a year after school and travelled Europe during that year. I studied Public Relations and Tourism in Stellenbosch on my return to South Africa and started working in the Travel Industry in 1998. Over the past 14 years, I have worked for several Inbound Tour Operators, managed a lodge in the Okavango Delta and owned a small Tourism business. My highlight was living on an island in the Okavango Delta. I love the Delta!!

I love running, yoga, playing piano and singing, travelling and meeting new people. Most of my time is however spent with my lovely husband and two children. We live in the countryside as we could just not face living in a concrete jungle after returning to South Africa from Botswana!

My passion for travel started in Europe, but my true passion for Africa started on my first game drive in South Africa in 1999... I stayed in the Timbavati Game Reserve. I can still remember getting up close to a pride of lions...since then I've been hooked! I love our beautiful country and our wildlife and bush.

Where have I travelled?

Locally - all over South Africa: Cape Town, Garden Route, West Coast, Northern Cape, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu Natal, Kruger and Mpumalanga.

In the rest of Africa I've visited Namibia, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe, and have also been to Mauritius and the Seychelles. Most recently I had the opportunity of touring East Africa quite extensively, including Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda.

Internationally I've travelled to Holland, Belgium, Germany, Paris, London, Switzerland and Spain.

My favourite travel moment

Walking with three elephants in the Okavango Delta - Tembi, Jabu and Marula. It was absolutely magical. And now after traveling in Zambia, Livingstone Island which is right on the edge of the Victoria Falls.

What I love about Africa

The sounds and the smells of the African bushveld, specifically falling asleep with the sound of hippos in the background and waking up to the sound of birds singing in the Delta. Oh yes, and our beautiful African sunsets.

Read what our Travellers have to say

The trip to Kenya was beyond amazing and all three lodges surpassed our initial expectations we had for them. Even though they are all Saruni lodges, they each gave us a completely different experience. The really only complaint we could possibly have is that Rick and I weren't that great on getting Isabelle covered with bug repellant the first night in Samburu and she was eaten by them but James got us some bug repellant for her that worked much better than what we had with us that we used for the rest of the trip. The tracker/guides we had were fabulous with Isabelle and catered to her needs which in return made our lifes much easier! The staff at all three lodges were fabulous, making sure our needs (primarly Isabelle's needs) were met, food was great and there isn't anything negative we can say about the trip at all. We have already decided that we will be making a trip back to Africa a yearly vacation after experiencing this last trip.
