Sharon Kemp - Welcome to my page!
I have been a Durban girl for most of my upbringing until recently, where I believe I made the right decision to follow my husband's dream and move to the beautiful Mother City, Cape Town.
I love spending time with family and friends and nothing has made that more apparent than with my move. I always wanted to travel and it was all oddly enough from my sporting background and wanted to go all over and watch sport from different arenas.
Where have I travelled?
In South Africa: Battlefields of Kwa-Zulu Natal; Drakensburg; Eastern Cape; Garden Route and Cape Town and Kruger. In Africa I have had the privilege of going to Botswana and experiencing the rolling "sea" of wilderness.
Internationally I've visited the UK, France and Madrid.
My favourite travel moment
This is a very difficult one to say as there have been many magical moments! I would have to say that one of my most memorable moments was on honeymoon in Phinda Forest Lodge and not even 10 minutes into our evening game drive, did we happen to "bump" into my favourite member of the Big 5, an elusive leopard perched in the fork of a tree with its meal close by! It was a sight to behold!
I also have to mention an elephant interaction I was privileged to experience in Botswana. It was daunting to stand next to this mammoth animal but interacting with Jabu the elephant was something I'll never forget.
What I love about Africa
The diversity of Africa is truly mind-boggling and wish I could see, touch, taste and experience more!
Some African travel advice
Make sure you bring along an adventurous spirit to experience all that is on offer; a camera to capture those memorable moments (with lots of memory sticks) and suntan lotion!
Where I'd love to go next
Again, this is a tough one as there are so many spectacular sites in Africa. I would love to see the great migration in the Serengeti; one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Nature, Victoria Falls and then there's the natural beauty of the Indian Ocean Islands.
