My Travel Recommendations

I'd love to inspire you with my travel recommendations. From luxurious lodges in the Sabi Sands to boutique hotels along South Africa's Garden Route, here are my favourites.

  • Oude Werf Hotel

    Oude Werf

Location: South Africa - Cape Winelands, South Africa
    WHY I RECOMMEND IT

"The Oude Werf is a charming historical hotel located in the heart of Stellenbosch. This is the oldest hotel in South Africa and what surprised me most was how stylish the rooms are and had a homely feel. Here you can live like a local and enjoy the restaurants, galleries and tourist attractions. Great for couples and honeymooners as it does have that romantic appeal. They also cater for families."

  • Victoria and Alfred Hotel

    Victoria and Alfred Hotel

Location: South Africa - Cape Town
    WHY I RECOMMEND IT

"Great value property in the heart of the V&A Waterfront. The Piazza and Mountain facing rooms are really spacious and I loved the intimate Loft rooms with the electric windows in the A-frame of the roof."

  • Fugitives' Drift Guest House

    Fugitive's Drift Guest House

    Location: South Africa - Kwazulu-Natal
    WHY I RECOMMEND IT

"Fugitive's Guest House is a small, intimate guest lodge where you will be well taken care of. Enjoy the exceptional story-telling of the Anglo-Zulu Battles in the late 1800's. Be sure to take tissues while you embark on this emotional journey."

  • Three Tree Hill Lodge

    Three Tree Hill Lodge

    Location: South Africa - Kwazulu-Natal
    WHY I RECOMMEND IT

"Expect exceptionally warm hospitality and service from Cheryl & Simon (and Co) at Three Tree Lodge which is in great location for activities (not only Battlefields) and fab for families, friends or couples of all ages travelling. The fresh and healthy meals are a real treat at this Sustainable Lodge! Watch out for those home made breads - really delicious."

  • Fugitives' Drift Lodge

    Fugitives' Drift Lodge

    Location: South Africa - Kwazulu-Natal
    WHY I RECOMMEND IT

"Great views from the Lodge overlooking the Buffalo River and Isandlawana Mountain topped with exceptional hospitality. Although I am no history buff, my highlight was having the privilege of listening to the story-telling of the Battle of Rourkes Drift, which was passed down by the late renowned historian, David Rattray. Don’t be surprised if you shed a tear or two – the story is very moving."
