Kelly-Anne Blanchard - Welcome to my profile!

About Me

I am a born and bred Capetonian, raised in the northern suburbs of the Mother City. I consider myself lucky to have grown up in such a beautiful city with Table Mountain as the backdrop - and since I am an adventurist at heart and absolutely love the outdoors, what more could one ask for?

I have been in the travel industry since the beginning of my career. I am a qualified tourist guide in the Cape Metropole, Cape Winelands, the Overberg and West Coast regions, and have a diploma in travel and tourism under my belt. My passion is to show people the diversity and beauty of the city and country I call home.

Where have I travelled

My travel experience includes local travel within Cape Town and its surrounding areas, the West Coast, the Overberg, the Cape Winelands, the Garden Route, KwaZulu Natal, Sun City and Pilanesberg National Park.

My Favourite Travel Moment

One of my most memorable travel moments was when I travelled to Sun City where we had the opportunity to enjoy an elephant interaction in Pilanesberg National Park. Keeping in mind that this was the first time I had ever seen an elephant, it was an amazing moment. I also had the chance to feed them, and even put my hands inside the elephant's mouth - that was truly a WOW moment for me!

What I love about Africa

What is not to love about Africa? I love everything about Africa! The people, the food, the wildlife, the outdoor activities ... South Africa as a country and Africa as a continent are both equally unique in their own ways and have so many diverse cultures and people. South Africa in particular is truly a rainbow nation and I am so proud of my South African heritage.

Some African Travel Advice

Summer is the best time to travel to Cape Town and South Africa. The Mother City is absolutely beautiful in summer and there's so much to do and see. Remember to pack your swimming costume - Cape Town beaches are a definite must-do!

Where I'd love to go next

I love beaches as well as adrenalin and adventure so I would love to travel to the Indian Ocean islands of the Seychelles, Mozambique and Mauritius. I would also love to go to East Africa, swim with the dolphins in Zanzibar and take a hot-air balloon safari over the Serengeti during the wildebeest migration.

Read what our Travellers have to say

With the greatest appreciation and from the bottom of our hearts, Anton and I truly enjoyed our safari and stay with the staff at Selati. Craig and Linde were so thoughtful, helpful, and knowledgeable. The staff was so incredibly kind and very humble. We were thrilled to learn upon our arrival that we were upgraded to the Presidential suite. It was a magnificent space, complete with every little detail of home.

We truly appreciated that Linde welcomed and escorted us to our villa; showing us all the ins and outs and also letting us know that sometimes elephants and leopards like to take a drink of water from our private pool! Both Anton and I found that so special and very exciting! After quickly unpacking our luggage we sat for lunch. No sooner did we have our first sip of wine, and Anton was discussing elephants, and behold, a large bull elephant appeared in the open space right in front of us! And, he wasn't alone! The dry river bed that was directly below our lunch space filled with a herd of 20 more elephants all ranging in size from little ones to matriarchs. It was such a amazing experience!

We slept with our windows open (screens in place) and fell asleep to the sounds of the bush. Our first night in the pitch black we heard a rough saw type bark/growl and Craig told us it was the leopard. The food presentation was so well done! I adored the thoughtfulness of the Chef and staff - they provided gluten-free meal options for me, (accommodating this request is sometimes challenging), but the Selati staff actually made it seem so natural, and it seemed any request no matter how small was received and completed with ease and graciousness. The care of the staff was simply lovely. The entire experience was so wonderful.

For the rest of our lives, we will have many stories and very special memories to share with our friends and family. Thank you, Kelly-Anne for your co-ordination efforts, checking in with us in a timely manner, and making sure we had everything so wonderfully arranged for this experience of a lifetime.
