Marco Monteiro-Silva

Marco lives somewhere in that space between finding your sunglasses and losing your sunscreen. Growing up in Johannesburg, he spent most of his childhood with his grandmother, learning the art of living a quiet life peppered with respectable doses of Portuguese insanity. His immigrant background has nurtured a life-long fascination with the daily lives of different cultures, and how they interpret happiness, love, and humour.

After a failed experiment involving a commerce degree, Marco switched to a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Literature at the University of Cape Town. Fiction was instantly a world more familiar than reality. Since then he has travelled the world, befriending Jewish Mexicans, milking Egyptian cows, and making the acquaintance of many of the world's restless spirits for a brief beer or coffee.

When not writing for Go2Africa, Marco can be found working on his first novel and learning to take pictures while people aren't looking.
