Andrea Hambides

Andrea grew up in Cape Town. At 17 she travelled Europe with an orchestra. She has played the Oboe in Austria, Germany, and Italy, and yet will do her best to convince you that she's not a band-geek.

After high school, Andrea spent a year and a half travelling and working in North America. She has worked in the events department of a luxury golf resort outside Miami, shopped in New York, and spent days sun-tanning in the Bahamas.

Andrea's advice to those interested in visiting Africa: "It's not what you see on TV!”

Qualifications

National and International (City & Guilds) Diplomas in Travel and Tourism, DTT Certificates in Fares and Ticketing, and a Diploma in Small Business Management.

Travel experience

The majority of South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, Mozambique and Botswana, Austria, Italy, Germany, the Bahamas and the United States.

Dream destinations

Zanzibar, Botswana and Mozambique are my top 3.

Educating people about our beautiful country and continent, and of course travelling!

What I love about Africa

Having traveled to a variety of places in the world, I can say without hesitation that no destination compares with Africa. I love the diversity of cultures, the natural beauty, the landscapes and scenery. The combination of all this and so much more results in something unique and unlike anything I've experienced anywhere else in the world!

What I love about Go2Africa

I love the sociable work environment and great vibe that we have as a company. This is rare to find, especially in an office dominated by women! It is a pleasure to come to work everyday!

Career highlights

Working in the United States and living in Florida and Massachusetts for a year and a half. I got to fulfill my dream of living and traveling within the USA and it was a wonderful experience.
