Janine Krook

After finishing a degree in psychology and human resources, Janine set out on what would become years of travel and adventure.

Her first 3-and-a-half years overseas were spent working in the UK and backpacking for long periods through Syria, Jordan, Israel, Egypt and Turkey.

Next was Australia for two years, then New Zealand. Finally, back in South Africa, Janine based herself in Cape Town for almost two years, selling tours and managing a backpackers' hostel.

Only then did Janine consider herself ready to travel the world. Asia, Nepal, Tibet, China, Cambodia, Malaysia, Mozambique, Zambia: a t-shirt was bought in every country.

Janine's best piece of travel advice: "Discover the undiscovered. Even first-time travellers should not be scared off by a country they don't know much about. This often makes for the most memorable experience.”

Qualifications

Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology and Human Resource Management). I have worked in the UK as a travel consultant; in South Africa and New Zealand as a lodge manager; in South Africa as an adventure centre manager and now I'm a travel consultant at Go2Africa.

Southern Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Australia, New Zealand, UK and Eastern and Western Europe, central and southeast Asia, parts of Canada and the US, the Caribbean.
