Maureen Stover

Maureen's initial desire to study forensic science was quelled by a fateful experience while visiting an open day at Cape Technicon. Among the various detailed course study exhibits, she spotted a man holding up a large, white piece of paper. On the paper, in black marker he had written the following question: "Do you want to see the world?”

Maureen approached the stranger, and he muttered only two words. "Study tourism."

Since that fateful day Maureen has travelled to Botswana, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, and Mauritius.

Maureen has a reputation in the travel industry for telling it like it is; a trait that gets her into trouble some days, and earns her praises on most others. Her personal creed is: "Do everything you can for a client. Discover every alternative, and offer them the best option.”

At Go2Africa she is affectionately referred to as "the contender".

Qualifications

National Tourism Diploma. Reservations Manager at Strand Pavilion Beach Resort and Operations Manager at American Tour Operator.

Travel experience

Extensive travel around Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar as well as South Africa, Mauritius, Zimbabwe, and Botswana.

Dream destinations

The Seychelles, Thailand and Dubai.

What I love about Africa

East Africa has some of the friendliest people in the world; they always have a BIG smile on their faces. I also love the African sunsets and the sounds you can hear at night while sitting around a bon fire.
