A road trip in Africa presents so many possibilities, not only in terms of magnificent landscapes passing your window but also varied activities and accommodation to suite your particular idea of an African road trip.
Cramming your family into a hire car for a family road trip in Africa requires a little patience, many exciting action stops along the way and relaxed, welcoming hospitality at the end of the road.
Taking your loved one on a romantic African road trip or deciding on a road trip honeymoon allows you more freedom. Take control of your time together by stopping to explore when you like, or treating yourselves to an indulgent picnic in magnificent surroundings before spending the night in luxurious, intimate accommodation.
Sometimes, however, you don't need an excuse to go on a luxury road trip. Ask your African Travel Specialist to find you your dream car and ensure that the places you stay at are top-notch.
What would a trip to Africa be without time spent on safari. It's perfectly possible to do a self-drive safari - driving yourself slowly through the game reserves of South Africa and Namibia will offer you some exciting, close-up sights.
However, we recommend you take advantage of the game drives on offer at the safari lodges. This lets you take your eyes off the road and focus on the animals while knowledgeable rangers navigate and share their extensive knowledge with you.
Combine your African safari with a beach self-drive holiday. With many beautiful African beaches that are easily accessible by car, a beach road trip is a great way to find your favourite stretch of sand.
If you're the truly adventurous type and want to drive a 4x4, this is something we can organise for you. It would be a necessity if you want to explore the northern Kaokoveld region of Namibia, inhabited by the Himba tribe, otherwise most places are easily accessible in a normal car.
