Domestic air services operate between Botswana's major airports:
Charter services can be arranged to reach remote areas. These tend to be expensive, but are cheaper when booked through a tour operator.
There are 18,482 km of highways in Botswana, of which 4,343 km are paved. Road conditions in the reserves of Botswana are extremely rough and dusty in the dry season and extremely rough and muddy in the wet season.
Four-wheel drive vehicles are essential, as are the good driving skills of your guide to negotiate these roads in the wild. Your Botswana safari will involve game drives on these roads but at slow, manageable speeds while overland safaris or transfers from one region to another may necessitate driving on these roads - prepare for a challenging time!
IMPORTANT
Please note that, in light of the above, Go 2 Africa does not recommend a self-drive Botswana safari.
Furthermore, because of the intricacies, logistics and risks involved , we regret to say that Go 2 Africa cannot assist in planning self-drive safaris in Botswana.
