If you thought a honeymoon in Botswana was all about fly-blown tents in the burning, arid Kalahari - think again.
Home to some of Africa's most luxurious and intimate lodges - with opulent honeymoon accommodation that'll have you grasping for superlatives - Botswana is the by-word for southern Africa's rawest, purest and most romantic wilderness.
Wake up to the sound of the bush: birds, the bark of a baboon and the far-off rumbling roar of a lion.
Slanting soft light picks out the warm colours of mahogany furniture and oriental rugs; a steaming pot of coffee and plate of home-baked biscuits are the only signs of the discreet staff.
While steaming water pours into your bath you contemplate the day ahead: a slow game drive through wildlife-packed woodlands; a lazy canoe ride along glittering rivers; a candlelit dinner under a roof of stars.
Who said you had to rough it in Africa?
For many, the legendary Okavango Delta - the Kalahari's green oasis - is the obvious choice for an African honeymoon.
Stunning views, romantic backwaters and private accommodation combine to deliver that once-in-a-lifetime experience in an area bursting with wildlife.
Others swear by the vivid magic of the Chobe River, a benign lifeline for the thousands of elephants and buffalo that crowd its banks in the dry season, harried on all sides by Chobe's watchful lions.
Few sunsets can beat the ones here: a languid golden orb sinking over the Chobe's floodplains, the dusty air thick with the drama of survival.
And then there is the drama of Savuti, slap-bang in the middle of the enormous Chobe National Park and home to some of Africa's most thrilling action.
It's the raw, primitive authentic African bush at its very best but the accommodation will have you wondering how they ever built something so serene in such an environment.
Finally, tucked away in a little corner of the Chobe National Park is Linyanti, a watery extension of the Okavango Delta - and Botswana's best-kept secret. Remote and undeveloped, Linyanti has great game and some of Botswana's top lodges in private concessions.
Watch the sun set behind a wall of palm trees as the lagoon burns with golden light, and prepare for a night drive.
