Although the official language of Botswana is English, most of the population also speaks Tswana. Afrikaans is spoken by farmers and people in the southern regions of the country.

Sibuya is spoken in the far north of the country near Chobe, and Ndebele is spoken in the southeast. San dialects are spoken by a tiny minority. Guided safaris are conducted in English.
