Botswana » Towns & Cities

With a population of little more than 1.8 million, Botswana's few urban centres are small and, owing to climatic and geographical reasons, concentrated in the more fertile and better-watered south-east crescent.

Eighty percent of Botswana's population live in this region, which includes the fast growing capital- Gaborone- reflecting the worldwide trend of rapid urbanisation.

Francistown is Botswana's second largest city, but for the visitor the towns of Maun - which serves the Okavango Delta - and Kasane - which is sandwiched between the Chobe National Park and the Zimbabwe border - are more important.
