Botswana's walking safari industry, given the vastness of its reserves and the numbers of large, dangerous animals, is not quite as developed as that in South Africa or Zimbabwe. A traditional policy of no-walking has, however, changed over the years and there are now areas that permit walking (with a registered guide) and companies that focus on walking trails.
The Moremi Game Reserve is the only Government-run park that allows walking (on Chief's Island) but the many lodges based around the Okavango Delta in private wildlife concession areas offer armed, guided walks. These may take the form of anything from a short nature walk to an extensive wilderness hike over a number of days.
The Tuli Game Reserve also offers walking opportunities in a slightly safer environment- there are fewer large animals in this area.
