Jack's Camp

Superior tented desert camp in the Makgadikgadi Pan area of central Botswana.

  • Historical - founded in the mid-1960s, this is the last of the old-style African safari camps.

  • Magical - a simple, rustic, yet superior camp pitched on a low grassland knoll in a truly wild area.

  • Peaceful - seek refuge in a place where silence engulfs you.

Jack's Camp offers a comprehensive desert experience, as well as the opportunity to walk with the bushman trackers who provide a unique connection between the fascinating culture and the natural environment. Qualified zoologists and biologists emphasise the incredible desert wildlife, unique to the area, on game walks and drives. Although the salt plains might look barren, they teem with wildlife - hyenas, elephants, lions, ostriches, jackals, springbok, bat-eared foxes, dozens of bird species, wildebeest and zebra to name but a few.

Venture into the impenetrable salt plains on all-terrain, 4-wheeled motorcycles to explore remote archaeological sites. In the wet season, the pans fill with water forming one of the most important wetlands sites in Africa, which in turn, attract huge flocks of flamingos as well an annual zebra and wildebeest migration in southern Africa. Other activities include bird watching and quad biking.

Location

Jack's Camp is situated in the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park in the Kalahari Desert, central Botswana.
