San Camp is located in a private concession bordering the Makgadikgadi National Park and the extinct Makgadikgadi super-lake.

The camp is made up of 6 spacious walk-in tents with a distinct colonial feel, bringing to mind safaris of yore.

Often described as one of Africa's most romantic camps, San Camp only operates during the dry season from April to November. With its endless vistas of rolling golden grasslands and desert palms lining the horizon, the concession adjoins the Makgadikgadi National Park. Behind San Camp are the enormous salt pans of the Makgadikgadi.

San Camp is a complete desert experience, focusing on species unique to the area such as gemsbok, brown hyena and springbok, as well as the geology, archaeology and anthropology of the Kalahari and Makgadikgadi.

Enjoy drinks under the starry African sky, quad biking and picnic breakfasts, often with meerkats looking on. Chances are good that you'll have the chance to get close to some of these very curious and feisty fellows as they sometimes climb on and use visitors as look-out points.

Delicious meals at San Camp are enjoyed in the communal mess tent. Intimate picnic breakfasts can also be enjoyed as you explore the surrounding the area.

A maximum of 12 guests are accommodated in 6 large walk-in white canvas tents on slightly elevated wooden platforms with private facilities. 2 romantic honeymoon tents are available, with regal colonial-style 4-poster double beds.

Rustic yet comfortable, with en suite bathroom featuring seperate showers, copper water basins, and paraffin lamps. Each suite also has its own private verandah with lovely views of the concession.

Bedrolls on the floor can be arranged for small children.
