San Camp is located on a grass-covered bay that overlooks the endless white salt sea of the extinct Makgadikgadi superlake.

With its endless vistas of rolling golden grasslands and desert palms lining the horizon, the concession adjoins the Makgadikgadi National Park. Behind San Camp are the huge salt pans of the Makgadikgadi. There are many theories as to how and when this vast geographic phenomenon was formed.

Fly-in safaris, desert safaris, wildlife safaris, game drives, camping, culture, photography and birding are just some of the activities that can be enjoyed.

San Camp is a complete desert experience, focusing on species unique to the area such as gemsbok, brown hyena and springbok, as well as the geology, archaeology and anthropology of the Kalahari and Makgadikgadi. Many of the guides are fully-qualified zoologists/geologists, often working on PhD research.

The Makgadikgadi is also one of the most important wetland sites remaining in Africa, and, in the wet season, the Makgadikgadi's Pans fill with water, attracting flocks of flamingo and other migratory birds. The area is also the only place in Southern Africa where one is often able to see a migration of tens of thousands of wildebeest and zebra followed by predators.

San Camp amenities include a mess tent for dining.

A maximum of 12 guests are accommodated in 6 large walk-in white canvas tents on slightly elevated wooden platforms with private facilities (short drop toilets), and there are also 2 honeymoon tents with 4-poster double beds.

Rustic yet comfortable, authentic safari furnishings include bucket showers, copper water basins, copper water jugs and paraffin lamps, as well as long drop loos and bucket showers.

Bedrolls on the floor can be arranged for small children.
