Motsentsela Tree Lodge is a small lodge set away from the bustle of Maun, perfect for the more discerning traveller, on the way to or from the Okavango Delta. Situated on a small game farm 12km from Maun, the lodge is the perfect place to rest, relax and soak up the Botswanan bush.

The main thatched complex, consisting of bar, lounge, entrance hall and dining room offers home from home comfort. The front is bordered by a large teak deck sheltered under the shade of large trees, from which the lodge gets its Setswana name, Motsentsela (Birdplum). Off to one side is the swimming pool, also with a teak deck and behind the lodge is a very unique guest toilet.

Game on the farm includes ostrich, duiker, eland, gemsbok, giraffe, impala, kudu, springbok and zebra, as well as a host of many smaller mammals. A recent bird count notched up over 120 species in 2 days. The farm has 3 marked walking trails of different lengths which guests are encouraged to explore at their own pace.

Motsentsela Tree Lodge is just 15km South of Maun airport; the western border of the farm is on the Thamalakane River.

Dining at Motsentsela Tree Lodge is a fairly informal affair, with wholesome meals being served around one big table in the central dining area or you could opt for a more private dining experience outside, on the teak deck.

Motsentsela consists of 7 large Meru style tents on teak decks with en suite toilet facilities, which include a claw foot tub and outside shower. The tents are large, comfortable and attractively furnished. Each one is on its own teak deck under a canopy of large indigenous trees; they are well spaced to ensure privacy. In addition, there are 2 thatched honeymoon suites which are luxuriously furnished and offer utmost privacy.
