Set at the foot of a protective semi-circle of hills, the village of Mochudi was established by the Bakglata tribe in or around 1871. The village still houses a traditional Kglota (tribal meeting place) and there remain some traditional houses and courtyards around the village.
On the hill above the Kglota is the Phuthadikoho Museum, which houses an entrancing collection of photographs and artefacts relating to the Bakglatu. The museum also has a small collection on the famous explorer and missionary David Livingstone.
