Clothing on safari should be loose fitting and comfortable. Wear muted colours - greens and browns - and avoid white or brightly coloured items. A sunhat is vital no matter the season and you should bring walking shoes or boots as well as flip flops or rafting sandals.

Dry season temperatures can plunge to little over freezing in June and July so pack warm clothing; a fleece top, woollen hat and trousers are ideal. The end of the dry season/early wet season can see the mercury soaring to over 400C - so prepare for hot and humid conditions.

Above all, pack clothing that you don't mind getting wet, or wearing while wet - a Delta safari always involves water!

What to Pack for the Okavango Delta - wear neutral-coloured clothing and bring a day pack

"Botswana is a place of two distinct seasons: a cool, dry winter from May to September and a hot, wet summer from October to April, but the idiosyncratic Delta in many ways does things in reverse."
