Tracy Payne was a much-loved member of the Go2Africa family, serving as our Head of Operations with dedication, warmth, and an unwavering passion for travel. Tracy passed away in May 2026, leaving behind a remarkable legacy that continues to inspire all who had the privilege of working alongside her.
During her nearly 20 years at Go2Africa, Tracy played an instrumental role in the company’s growth and success. Her commitment to excellence, deep industry knowledge, and genuine care for both colleagues and travellers helped shape the culture and service standards that define Go2Africa today.
Born and raised in South Africa, Tracy grew up on a farm outside Cape Town before making the city her home. Her adventurous spirit led her to live in both the United States and the United Kingdom, while her love of exploration took her across Southern and East Africa and beyond.
Tracy’s Love for Africa
Among Tracy’s many treasured travel experiences, one she often spoke about was flying over the Okavango Delta by helicopter. Seeing this extraordinary wilderness from above and watching hippos move through the waterways below remained one of her most cherished memories.
Another lifelong dream fulfilled was gorilla trekking. Tracy described being in the presence of a gorilla family as one of the most profound and unforgettable moments of her life—an experience that perfectly reflected her deep connection to Africa’s wildlife and wild places.
A Legacy of Expertise and Care
Tracy believed that every journey should be carefully crafted to create lasting memories. She understood that Africa offers an incredible diversity of destinations, lodges, and experiences, and she always encouraged travellers to trust experts who could help bring their dream safari to life.
Her commitment to excellence, attention to detail, and genuine care for both guests and colleagues helped shape the exceptional service standards that define Go2Africa today.

Beyond her professional achievements, Tracy will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, infectious enthusiasm, and unwavering support for those around her. She touched the lives of countless travellers, partners, and team members, and her influence continues to be felt throughout our organisation.
We are deeply grateful for the years we shared with Tracy and for the passion, wisdom, and friendship she brought to our team. Her spirit of adventure and love for Africa will remain an enduring part of Go2Africa’s story.
