The Kenya wildlife experience is undoubtedly the country's main drawcard: every year millions of people flock to Kenya to see her abundance of animals, and they are not disappointed.

Kenya's wildlife protection areas contain the greatest densities of the country's awesome diversity of wildlife. The Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra takes place across borders between national parks and even countries as the animals move from Kenya to Tanzania and back. Read more about the migration here.

They are home to the Big 5; elephant, lion, rhinoceros, buffalo and leopard, as well as various other predators, scavengers, antelope, and just about any other African beast you can think of - not forgetting the blue wildebeest that famously migrates in the company of thousands every year.

It may come as a surprise to learn that the country's wildlife population is not restricted to the protected areas. Wild animals are spread all over Kenya - the rhinoceros is the only species that is entirely restricted to conservation parks. Don't panic; the danger is minimal. Predators are hardly ever seen outside the parks and being eaten by one, or attacked by an aggressive elephant, is about as likely as being killed by a fast-falling piano.
