Campi Ya Kanzi means 'Camp of the hidden treasure' in Kiswahili and it is just that. The eco-friendly camp is located on a Masai ranch surrounded by the Chyulus, Tsavo and Amboseli National Parks. This huge reserve contains many diverse landscapes from open grassland savannah, to bush hills; river forests, to the lake and on up to the cloud forests of the Chyulu.

You can view game on foot with an experienced local Masai guide, or in 4x4 vehicles. One of the best viewing options is an early morning game drive with a bush breakfast near the spring; walking next to elephants is almost guaranteed. Wildlife is abundant and varied with more than 60 species of mammals including lions, leopards, buffaloes, as well as rare species such as cheetah so you will see plenty of wildlife on your Kenya safari. Conservation efforts have been so successful that black rhino have recently moved onto the ranch.

The clubhouse Tembo (meaning elephant) has a thatched roof and is beautifully constructed of local materials such as lava rocks and native timbers. It is open to the outdoors, and from its terrace you'll have a spectacular view of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Tembo House has a large lounge where you can relax with a refreshing drink after your safari or listen to classical music while watching animals at the waterhole.

Campi Ya Kanzi is in southern Kenya, on the border with Tanzania, in the Chyulu Hills overlooking Mount Kilimanjaro.

Campi ya Kanzi specialises in Italian food which is served along with other international and local dishes. Meals take place at Tembo House, in the heart of the camp, with crystal glasses, fine table settings and candlelight dinners.

You can be assured of freshest ingredients as daily vegetables are supplied by the lodge's organic vegetable garden, as well as milk from their organic dairy and eggs from their chickens.

To accompany your meals, you can choose a bottle from their selection of South Africa wines or from the Italian vineyards of Antonella, specially bottled for the camp.

Campi Ya Kanzi has accommodation for 14 guests in permanent tents built on wooden platforms with thatched roofs. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with a shower. The décor is African, and each room is furnished with 4-poster beds, made up with fine Italian linen, colonial trunks and brass lamps. All the tents have their own verandas with views from Chyulu Hills to Kilimanjaro.
