Spend 13 days with your family exploring Kenya's abundant wildlife and glorious coastline, which includes seeing vast numbers of buffalo as well as thousands of flamingos and pelicans at Lake Nakuru, getting a possible glimpse of the rare black rhino, studying the birds and hippos at Lake Naivasha, game viewing at the Masai Mara, and enjoying cultural visits and bush walks with local Masai.

Upon arrival in Nairobi you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Depending on the time of your arrival, you'll have time to browse local markets for handicrafts or venture into town to go shopping.

- Day 2: Nairobi - Lake Nakuru (210km) 4½hrs

After breakfast you leave Nairobi and travel to Lake Nakuru, one of the Great Rift Valley Lakes. Lake Nakuru is renowned for its vast population of flamingos and is a delight for bird watching enthusiasts.

- Day 3: Lake Nakuru - Lake Naivasha (103km) 2½hrs

After a morning game drive you'll depart for another of the great Rift Valley Lakes, Lake Naivasha. You'll visit Elsamere where you can learn more about the life of Joy Adamson and her conservation efforts in Kenya, followed by a splendid afternoon tea overlooking the lake.

- Days 4-7: Lake Naivasha - Masai Mara (248km) 7hrs
- Itinerary
Today you drive to the Masai Mara where, for the next 3 days, your attention will be focused on the diverse and plentiful wildlife that has made the plains of the Masai Mara one of the world's greatest reserves. During your stay, all meals will be provided in camp. In between game drives, camp staff will organize activities for the children, such as making and shooting bows and arrows and learning about Masai culture.

- Day 8: Masai Mara - Nairobi (270km) 8½hrs

After an early morning game drive you drive back to Nairobi. This afternoon you visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, an organization set up to look after orphaned animals, especially elephants and rhinos. You also visit 'Carnivores' - a meat lover's paradise - for a group meal.

- Day 9: Nairobi - Mombasa (45 minutes flying time)

This morning you board your flight to Mombasa. On arrival at Mombasa airport you'll be met and transferred to your accommodation right beside the Indian Ocean.
Accommodation includes all beers, soft drinks, spirits and wines.

- Days 10-12: Indian Ocean
- Itinerary
Four days by the Indian Ocean gives everyone an opportunity to be as active or inactive as they wish.
On the cultural side there are the attractions of Old Mombasa and Fort Jesus. There are also nature trails and wildlife parks within easy reach. If you feel like doing nothing at all, there is a swimming pool and, of course, the ocean itself. If you feel like a bit of activity, then deep-sea fishing, diving and kite surfing are available, as well as activities such as windsurfing, sailing and snorkelling, which are included in the trip price. There are also daily excursions by glass bottom boat to the nearby coral reefs where you can snorkel amongst a variety of fish and corals.
If that is not enough to keep the children fully occupied, then there is also a range of children's activities arranged each day.

Extra tour notes.
Most clients arrive in Nairobi a few days prior to the official start day. Many may be joining Southern Trails trip, which runs from Nairobi to Victoria Falls taking in all the highlights of Tanzania, Malawi and Zambia, but will initially experience some of East Africa on this stunning short tour.
On Day 1, you should meet at the Silver Springs Hotel at 18h30pm for a pre-departure meeting. This will give you a chance to meet your fellow travellers and get to know your guides. The meeting will cover all the aspects of the trip. Please bring with you to this meeting: your passport with relevant visa's and evidence of medical and personal insurance. Please also bring the Local Payment.
The local payment must be paid to the tour leader prior to departure and must be paid in US$ cash. The local payment is required to cover a wide variety of our on-tour expenses, which can include National Park entrance fees, excursions and activities, certain fresh foods, vehicle tolls and entrance fees, as well as some accommodation costs whilst travelling throughout Africa.
While it is our intention to adhere to the route described above, there is a certain amount of flexibility built into the itinerary and on occasion it may be necessary, or desirable to make alterations. On Day 1 of your tour, you will be advised of any amendments.
