The town of Kilifi lies on the beautiful Kilifi Creek between Malindi and Mombasa on the Kenyan coast. This ancient coastal Swahili town sits on the estuary of the Rare River in Kenya and is capital of the Kilifi District.
Located about 58kms from Mombasa International Airport on the north side of the creek, Kilifi is steeped in history and African culture and is famous for its ancient Mnarani Ruins which include mosques and tombs dating back to 14th century.
The area around Kilifi township contains some of the best farming land in the district, where livestock rearing and tropical fruit farming are the dominant activities.
A visit to Kilifi would not be complete without exploring the village on foot and meeting the friendly Giriama people.
You could also stroll along the white sands of Bofa Beach, considered by many to be one of the best beaches in Kenya, or take a dive into the warm waters of the Indian Ocean and check out the magnificent coral reef below.
