Kwale

Kwale is a small town in Kenya's Coast Province. It is situated adjacent to the Shimba Hills National Reserve. In fact the village is only 5km from the main gate to the reserve and you are quite likely to see elephant along this road.

There is not much to see in Kwale except for a few run-down colonial homes, but further on, there are beautiful stretches of tropical forest in the Shimba hills. The Mwalugange Elephant Sanctuary, owned and run by the local Duruma people, is also close by.
