Speke Bay Lodge stretches along the south-eastern shore of Lake Victoria in Tanzania, just 15km from the Serengeti National Park.
The main buildings and luxury accommodation are constructed in the traditional style of the local tribe, the Sukuma.
Activities available at Speke Bay Lodge include excursions in boats on the lake and mountain bike trails, affording you a different safari experience.
You can fish from the beach for tilapia, go out in a boat to catch Nile perch, or wander around the lodge's 100ha of savannah, and spot the many species of bird which inhabit this area.
The restaurant and bar area at Speke Bay Lodge comprises 3 separate round buildings joined by a large terrace, overlooking Lake Victoria.
The restaurant offers a blend of international and Tanzanian cuisine; the chefs specialise in fresh fish from the lake and use vegetables and fruits from the local fields. Meals here are focused on the individual and the kitchen will be happy to cater for your special wishes and diets.
Breakfast and lunch can be served on the terrace of your bungalow at any time you wish, or a table could be set for you on the terrace of the restaurant, in the garden or on the beach.
The thatched bungalows at Speke Bay Lodge are situated along the lakeshore, each one is a separate structure designed to ensure your privacy. Custom-made furniture in solid Mkola wood adds to the warm and elegant atmosphere.
Each bungalow has a loft with 2 twin beds which makes them suitable for families with children. The sitting area has large French windows which open on to a bougainvillea and passionflower shaded veranda where your breakfast can be served.
The tented camp consists of 9 tents, each covered by a thatched roof, which also creates a private and shady sitting area. The tents are fully furnished and contain 2 beds. Hot showers and toilets are close by
There's also the option of setting up your own tent, although numbers are limited to ensure minimal impact on the surrounding area.
