Driving in the Masai Mara

In Kenya, modified minibuses are the mode of transport (both on roads and on game drives).

All the lodges we recommend within the Masai Mara have their own 4WD vehicles (in East Africa you'll find that it's mostly closed-topped 4WD vehicles that are used).

If you're on a scheduled tour in East Africa then your game drives will take place in modified game-viewing minibuses even if each lodge you stay at may have other vehicles. If this is of concern to you, be sure to check with your safari operator what game-viewing vehicles you'll be getting around in.
