Governors' Ilmoran Camp

Small tented camp for those wanting that extra bit of luxury on their Masai Mara safari.

  • Personalised Service - at this intimate camp you'll feel like a personal guest.

  • Prime Location - set on the banks of a river in the heart of the world-renowned Masai Mara.

  • Floating Away - look down on the game-rich Mara plains from a hot air balloon.

Governors' Ilmoran Camp is shaded by a forest, on the banks of the Mara River. This top-of-the-range tented camp has managed to maintain the atmosphere of an original hunting camp, but with extra touches of luxury and comfort. The decision of the owner to reduce the camp to only 10 tents reflects his passion for preserving this incredible section of the Mara.

Activities on offer including game drives in comfortable Land Rovers and game walks, or balloon flights over the plains followed by a champagne breakfast in the bush. The Masai Mara is famous for its exceptional abundance of wildlife all year round, but particularly round the months of July to October, which sees the annual migration of around 1.5 million wildebeest and zebra.

Back at the camp you can watch elephant, giraffe and other wildlife come down to the river to drink. Also, as the camp is unfenced, it is fairly common to fall asleep to the sound of hippo chomping grass outside your tent.

Location

Governors' Ilmoran Camp is situated on the banks of the Mara River on the plains of the Masai Mara, Kenya.
