Governors' Private Camp is an exclusive camp with a traditional safari atmosphere, situated on the banks of the Mara River. This is a small camp of just eight tents, set in a semi-circle around a large waterhole with resident hippo. The camp can be booked by one family or group at a time, so it's yours to enjoy, as the name suggests, in private.

There are various activities on offer including game drives in open vehicles, game walks and hot air balloon safaris over the wide plains of the Masai Mara. The world-famous Mara is home to Africa's 'Big 5' and, from July to October, becomes the backdrop for the great migration of thousands upon thousands of wildebeest and zebra. Day excursions to the Lake Victoria are also on offer.

It should be noted that Governors' Private Camp must be booked by a minimum of 4 guests staying for at least 3 nights.

Meals at the Governors' Private Camp are planned by the executive chef who ensures that the food is of the highest possible standard, and caters for all dietary requirements.

The open bar and dining tent has a beautiful view over the Mara River, and bush dining can easily be arranged.

To add to that atmosphere of bygone days all meals are served on fine china, with crystal glasses.

Governors' Private Camp offers luxurious double or twin accommodation in one of 8 spacious tents, each with private verandah.

Sleeping under canvas really allows you to feel closer to nature, however, comfort has not been sacrificed and each tent is furnished with tasteful handmade furniture.

All tents have en-suite private bathrooms with flush-toilets, hot showers and running water on demand.
