Tijara Beach is an exclusive island hideaway set in a remote location just south of Mombasa Island, Kenya.

The lodge is set in immaculate gardens which are home to small wildlife such as wild pigs, bush buck, genet cats and bush babies as well as an abundance of exotic butterfly species. Tijara also has its own private beach, accessible exclusively to guests and a handful of local fisherman who bring in the catch of the day.

While at Tijara there is plenty to see and do as well as it being the perfect place to unwind and relax and just do nothing if you wish. The nearby reef offers spectacular snorkelling with an abundance of beautiful corals and tropical fish and the occasional turtle can sometimes be found swimming close to the shore.

For those wanting to do more than laze on the beautiful white sand beach, you can take a short walk to the amazing nearby cave, whose many chambers are beautifully illuminated by shafts of sunlight.

Tijara Beach offers 4 luxurious cottages each set against a cliff, offering stunning views over the Indian Ocean from their large open balconies.

The cottages are built and decorated in traditional Swahili style with coconut thatch roofs and exclusively handcrafted Swahili furniture.

All cottages are airy and spacious and offer en suite bathrooms, king-size beds and high-speed ceiling fans for those hot African summer days.
