Your overland journey begins in Nairobi before descending into the Great Rift Valley on your way to Lake Nakuru National Park. A wide variety of wildlife can be seen in this area, including rhino, leopard, warthog and baboon. The lake shore boasts a strikingly colourful display of flamingos where these birds feed on the algae in the water.

After travelling approximately 190km, you will set up camp for the evening and enjoy dinner before turning in.

Rise early and embark on the scenic journey through sprawling tea plantations as you make your way to Eldoret on the Ugandan frontier.

This town is a great place to stock up on supplies for the rest of the journey.

Cross over the border into Uganda and travel through lush greenery and thick forest. Set up camp on the banks of the River Nile near to the town of Jinja, overlooking the rushing set of rapids, known as Bujagali Falls.

You'll have the opportunity to explore these rapids first hand, sampling the thrill of 'white water'. Make a voluntary contribution to the local community, helping to refurbish local schools.

The area abounds with exciting activities, including quad-biking, village walks, and a thrilling bungee jump over the river.

Journey to Uganda's capital, Kampala, and explore this bustling city, scouring the markets for curios and souvenirs.

Visit the Nakasero fresh food market and take in the vibrant atmosphere and colourful piles of fruit, familiar and exotic alike.

Take in the nightlife at the buzzing restaurants, bars and nightclubs in the city.

Continue your travels, passing Lake Victoria and moving towards the mountains in the southwest. Taking in the spectacular scenery, you cross the equator as you head deep into the Kigezi Highlands.

Stop at the magnificent Lake Bunyoni - a flooded valley with deep waters and scattered islands - before entering the Bwindi National Park in an area famed for its gorilla populations.

Set off in small groups with your local guides and trackers through the rainforest in search of families of gorillas. Once you have found a family, you'll spend an hour observing them.

Because of the strict regulations with regard to gorilla viewing, your permit allows you only one gorilla trek and viewing. This may mean that you spend a few days here while all members of the group get a chance to experience this awe-inspiring occurrence.

On the days that you are not involved in gorilla trekking, take forest walks where you'll encounter some amazing wildlife, including great forest birds and butterflies, or enjoy a community walk where you'll have the chance to meet some of the local people.

Set off for Kampala, the bustling capital of Uganda. Explore this dynamic city, visiting the markets and shopping centres.

Cross over the border, into Kenya, stopping in the small town of Eldoret.

Travel further into Kenya, passing through the Great Rift Valley, and arriving at the cosmopolitan city of Nairobi, Kenya's capital.

Take a city tour and discover this bustling metropolis, visiting the markets and shopping malls in search of curios and souvenirs.

Visit the Nairobi National Park; a great place to see rhino.

Traverse the Rift Valley as you journey to the Masai Mara National Park. At certain times of year, the impressive sight of the annual wildebeest migration can be seen.

Explore this reserve on morning and afternoon game drives. Game viewing here is excellent, offering sights of the Big 5, as well as predators such as cheetah and leopard, and scavengers such as vultures and hyena.

Travel back across the Rift Valley, stopping at Lake Naivasha. Here you will see the vast variety of birdlife in the area, in particular the gathering of flamingoes on the waters' edge where they feed on the algae that are found here.

Your journey finds its end in Nairobi.
