The Rift Valley Province is one of Kenya's seven provinces outside Nairobi. Dominated by the Rift Valley, which passes through the province, it's the largest, most populated, and most economically vibrant province in the country.
The Rift Valley Province is probably the most geographically spectacular province in Kenya. The Rift Valley itself is a massive tourist attraction, offering views paralleled by very few parts of the world. The high rainfall of the area supports its main economic activity - the farming of tea and coffee in the lush highlands.
The Rift Valley Province is also home to Kenya's Kalenjin community, which has produced many of the country's world-beating long-distance runners. Amazingly, since 1980 about 40% of the top honours available to men in international athletics for medium- and long-distance races have been earned by Kalenjin.
