Larsen's Samburu

Superior tented camp on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River.

  • Unique To Samburu - certain species are found in this area and nowhere else, such as the Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and Grevy's zebra.

  • Support Local Artisans - the shop sells a range of handicrafts, art and sculptures created by the Samburu people.

  • Cultural Experience - the resident group of Samburu dancers performs traditional dances every evening around the campfire.

Larsen's is a small luxurious tented camp set in lush lawns on the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River. The camp is located north of Nairobi in the Samburu, an area of dry grassland and savannah against a backdrop of mountains and escarpments.

You can't help but be reminded of the safaris of yesteryear as you relax in the bar, decorated with historical artefacts, and play a game or 2 of backgammon or chess. After dinner, you can sit around a campfire and chat with other guests or see the stars as never before.

On game drives, and from a viewing platform in the trees, you can scan the vast Samburu plain, looking out for animals exclusive to the area, as well as lion, elephant, cheetah and leopard.
