Samburu Intrepids is set in a semi-arid desert in the quiet western section of Samburu National Reserve. This luxury-tented camp is shaded by the acacias of the Uaso Nyiro River, where herds of elephant, buffalo and zebra come daily to drink. The area is also home to rarer species of wildlife such as the reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx and long-necked gerenuk antelope.

You can explore this dramatic wilderness on twice-daily game drives, or walking safaris, with resident guides. Raft trips are also available when the river is high. If you're interested in learning more about this area and its people you can join a cultural tour of Samburu villages or participate in the evening lectures and slide shows.

Back at the lodge you can laze by the swimming pool or do some bird watching from the elevated deck across the river. Samburu Intrepids also offers professional flex body therapy and has a sunbathing garden.

This is a good option for family safaris, as children can join in the Adventurers' Club which combines fascinating 'bush school' with practical conservation work, and cultural and sporting exchanges with local Samburu communities.

You will be woken for tea or coffee served to you in your tent before a morning game drive, followed by a late breakfast. Bush breakfasts are also available.

A formal candlelit dinner is served under the airy thatched roof of the main dining room, overlooking the river or under a star-filled sky. To add to your dining experience you can enjoy traditional dances by local warriors and maidens, as well as nightly talks and slide shows in the lounge & bar.

Samburu Intrepids comprises 27 luxurious tents overlooking the riverbanks, each with their own secluded veranda. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, and are furnished with hand-crafted mahogany furniture, large 4-poster beds and en suite bathrooms with showers.

The lodge offers all-day bar service, so you can relax on your veranda with a refreshing drink between game activities.
