Renowned as the potential birthplace of mankind after paleantologist Richard Leakey's discovery of the Homo habilis skull at Koobi Fora, the Sibiloi National Park became a world heritage site in 1997. The park protects hippos, crocodiles, cheetah, Grevy's zebra, gerenuk and beisa oryx.
You need a 4x4 to get here and should also bring all your supplies, although water is available at the headquarters. Do inquire about recent bandit action before heading here.
