Thika

Off the tourist route, Thika's claim to fame is its literary reference in Elspeth Huxley's book about colonial life in Kenya, 'The Flame Trees of Thika'. There don't seem to be many flame trees in abundance here, but it is the heart of pineapple country and vast plantations flourish around the town.
