Wasini is an island off the coast of southern Kenya, and lies just south of Shimoni.
The island is roughly 5km long and 1km wide, and sparsely populated. There are no roads on the island, and the fishing villages of Wasini and Mkwiro contain the most activity.
For travellers, the island has a number of Swahili ruins, some of which date back 400 years. There is also an exposed coral reef at the end of Wasini village.
Wasini is also close to the Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park - an area of four islands surrounded by coral reef, which offers some of the best snorkelling in Kenya.
