Sani Pass

The spectacular mountain road of the Sani Pass is a well-known entry point into Lesotho from South Africa's Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park.

It is also the gateway to the scenic 'Roof of Africa' route that links the dramatic scenery of the Drakensberg with the mountains of northern Lesotho. A 4x4 vehicle is absolutely vital for this road, especially if the weather is bad.

You should not underestimate the changeability of the weather in Lesotho. An oft-repeated truth is that it is common in Lesotho to experience all four seasons in one day. Be prepared.
