A trip aboard a Rovos luxury train is a fantastical train journey through both open spaces and time.

The Rovos Rail train meanders across African lands like a slow-moving royal chariot. The Rovos trains never exceed a 60kph speed, in fact, Rovos Rail pride themselves on the idea that their luxury trains resemble an elegant old dame dressed to the nines and travelling across untamed lands in a slow and gracious manner.

The Rovos Rail coaches are wood-panelled classics dating some 100 years and have been remodelled and refurbished to mint condition. These luxury train carriages can be hauled by steam, diesel or electric locomotives at various stages of travel. The Rovos luxury trains can accommodate a maximum capacity of 72 travellers in 36 sumptuous private suites.

The Rovos Rail observation car is positioned at the back of the train and can seat 32 passengers at any time. A non-smoking lounge is situated at the centre of the Rovos luxury train and can seat 26 passengers comfortably. Next to the observation car there's a smoking club lounge which seats 11 passengers.

Maintaining the Rovos spirit of grace, timelessness and luxury African train travel, there are no televisions or radios onboard.
