Add to this the epitome of Crusoe-chic at Vamizi Island’s Casa Marjani and you have a recipe made in ‘get away from it all’ heaven. Casa Marjani, ‘marjani’ meaning ‘coral’ in the local Kimwani language, is a 5-bedroom private villa, sleeping up to six adults and seven children. It lies within 4.7 acres of forest on a pristine beachfront, guaranteeing absolute exclusivity and privacy.
Designed with the nearby lapping ocean and bleached driftwood as an inspiration, Casa Marjani is constructed from sustainably sourced wood and thatch, with quirky décor elements thrown into the mix: an old dhow sail covers the outer lounge area as a shade, carved driftwood is revitalised as art. The entertainment building boasts an indoor and an outdoor dining area plus several lounges, all flowing seamlessly through an open plan onto the beach. A tower above has a small study, children’s TV and playroom, and an open air chill-out and observation deck, which is perfect for stargazing on perfect tropical nights.
