“Family exclusivity at its best... a place where you can go and just forget about the world and enjoy quality time with loved ones.”Ramona Rubach, Africa Safari Expert
Echoing accents of a traditional Cape Dutch design with its deep-set verandah and low porch roof, Koro Lodge was once the estate's original farmhouse and has been tastefully renovated to deliver both luxury and style. Embracing incredible views, Koro's interior is warm and welcoming and features rich, contemporary-chic furnishings and earthy, natural tones. Modern amenities such as satellite television, air conditioning, Wi-Fi and under-floor heating offer luxurious creature comforts, making it a perfectly comfortable getaway at any time of year.
Four hours north of Cape Town and tucked away in the Western Cape's Cederberg Mountains, Koro Lodge lies in the private and exclusive Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve, an area renowned for its spectacular natural beauty. Over 500 million years old, the Cederberg Mountains are characterised by their unusual and striking sandstone formations and dazzling night skies. Home to ancient Bushman rock art sites, black eagles and Cape leopards, the region is also known for its unique fynbos vegetation, which is at its most colourful in spring.
Secluded Koro Lodge is suitable for families and groups of friends who want to enjoy a luxurious, flexible holiday in complete exclusivity and privacy but with the creature comforts of home. Children of all ages are welcome.
Summers in the Cederberg run from November to April and bring long, hot days with warm rosy evenings and crisp, early dawns. You might experience one or two spectacular afternoon thunderstorms but the region is generally dry and hot over this time with temperatures at their highest in January and February.
Winter begins in May and sees quite a lot of rain and chilly temperatures that are perfect for cosy fireside evenings with friends and family. It is a beautiful time of year: the Cederberg's loftier mountain peaks gather a dusting of snow, icy rivers tumble down from high plateaus and the crystal-clear skies are perfect for stargazing. Note, however, that it can be very cold in June and July.
The spacious and fully-equipped kitchen allows you and your private chef to create delicious cuisine throughout your stay, whether family favourites or special-occasion suppers. For extra convenience, children’s meals and dietary requirements are catered for.
Elegantly furnished in warm, natural accents and textures, the master bedroom features a king-sized 4-poster bed and spacious en suite bathroom. High ceilings enhance the living space while ceiling fans and air conditioning provides cool respite from the summer heat.
A romantic 4-poster bed and contemporary furnishings adorn the second master bedroom. Both bedrooms open onto a deep, shady verandah with beautiful views over the surrounding garden and mountains.
Spacious en suite bathrooms in creamy, natural hues accompany each room and come complete with heated towel rails as well as gowns and slippers. An outdoor shower offers a unique way to view the surrounding scenery or night sky!
Koro's large living area is elegantly furnished in contemporary-chic décor with views onto the verandah, pool and garden. Plush sofas in front of the cosy, snuggle-up fireplace make the best places to unwind on cold winter nights with a book from the villa's library, while the large dining table can be set indoors or out on the verandah for alfresco dining under the stars.
Overlooking the surrounding mountains, the deep, cool wrap-around terrace and its sparkling infinity swimming pool offers the perfect place to escape the sun. Enjoy a barefoot barbeque with family and friends or simply relax over drinks on the pool deck while your chef cooks up a feast.
The loft at Koro Lodge, located above the main living area, has been converted into a snug den for children and features four single beds and play area. Koro also offers a separate en suite accommodation that sleeps two - ideal for teenagers, grandparents or an au pair.
