“Feel like the owner of an award-winning estate at this grand and contemporary exclusive-use house on the Grande Provence wine estate.”Carlien Parsons, Product Manager
Traditional Cape Dutch architecture takes on a glamorous guise in this elegant 5-bedroom abode. Country-classic decor and antiques are punctuated by thoughtfully-selected African artefacts. The Owners Cottage has checker-board floor in the sunny conservatory and textures like sisal and screed mingle freely with plush fabrics and patinated wood. The facade has iconic Cape Dutch cables, a style that dates back to the 17th century.
Set in the glorious Franschhoek valley, Grande Provence Estate lies at the heart of the Cape’s most beautiful wine region. First settled by the Huguenots, Franschhoek is today considered South Africa’s gourmet capital and is home to some of the country’s greatest restaurants. There are also many world-class wine estates to explore and new vintages to uncover. On the grounds, visit Grande Provence’s cellar for private wine-tasting experiences or tour the art gallery. Relax in your bedroom with private facials and yoga or Pilates lessons.
An ideal escape for Francophiles and wine-lovers, this magnificent villa is perfect for discerning families and large groups of friends who want to experience a little slice of Europe in the heart of the Cape Winelands.
From December to March, the Cape Winelands is a place of long, hot summer days with temperatures at their hottest in January and February. April and May are lovely months with less wind and far fewer visitors while May to September brings winter's rain and cooler days, perfect for staying inside and tasting red wines! The spring months of October and November see mixed weather but are among the best months for hiking as the surrounding mountains burst with flowers after the rains.
The modern, fully-equipped kitchen is where your resident chef will prepare anything from favourite family dishes to lavish poolside barbeques. Individual food allergies and special dietary requirements are catered for.
The luxurious honeymoon suite, also known as the Angel's Suite, has a beautiful king-sized bed dressed in imported 400-thread linen and down pillows (hypo-allergenic are also available). The suite's private lounge is furnished in contemporary-chic décor with a fireplace that promises cosy winter nights. A secluded garden with stunning views adds romantic appeal.
Two guest suites with king-sized beds and spacious en suite bathrooms are found on the ground floor. Loft-chic décor adorns the rooms which feature satellite television, air conditioning and under-floor heating.
The remaining two guest suites are located on the top floor of the cottage. The en suite loft rooms offer king-sized beds that can be converted into twin beds if required, satellite television, air conditioning and under-floor heating.
Sumptuous bath tubs, showers, under-floor heating and heated towel rails make every bathroom a sensual sanctuary. Bespoke bathrobes, slippers and a selection of deluxe toiletries are luxurious touches.
Fold back the floor-to-ceiling doors of the conservatory to enjoy the sights and sounds of the garden as you leisurely meals. In the evening, have a nightcap next to the log-burning fireplace in the living room which is furnished with custom-built pieces in neutral tones.
The beautifully-manicured garden and sparkling swimming pool have magnificent views of the evocative Franschhoek mountains. A state-of-the-art barbeque means summer feasts under the stars while the secluded, roof-top spa pool overlooks the vineyards and makes the perfect place to soak at the end of the day. Elegant sun loungers beckon sun-worshippers; the deep-shaded terrace is the perfect place to spend a lazy afternoon with a book or for a snooze.
