These two beautifully-designed and spacious villas offer guests an intimate and secluded getaway at the heart of Namibia's big game country.
Set slightly apart from each other, the villas afford their visitors modern luxuries in a pared-down colonial style. Afro-chic décor complements the surrounding wilderness while a modern kitchen plays host to a resident chef who will spoil you with outstanding local cuisine. Air conditioned and complete with bar and library, each villa has a private terrace and shimmering plunge pool - the perfect place to relax and absorb the wild views.
Ideal for families and groups of friends looking for a superior African safari as part of an independent self-drive tour or as a fly-in adventure. Secluded and private, Villa Mushara is also perfect for honeymooners while its location means instant appeal for safari enthusiasts. “This is a beautiful villa: spacious with contemporary decor and fabulous luxury facilities like a private pool and your own bush sala - I love it!”Liesel van Zyl, Product Manager
Burnt reds, deep chocolate browns and bone-bleached whites combine in a masculine yet restful palette. Unexpected witty touches include old travelling trunks used as occasional tables and a zebra-striped bathtub. The overall feeling is one of a traditional 19th century bush camp set up by 21st century interior design wizards.
Part of the Mushara Collection, Villa Mushara is situated on the edge of Namibia’s Etosha National Park, one of Southern Africa’s premier wildlife destinations. Covering an area of over 22 000 km², Etosha's golden grasslands and open woodlands are home to great numbers of animals ranging from zebra, springbok and impala to elephant, black rhino and giraffe. All the big cats are resident and the bird watching is very good, especially in summer.
Mushara Villas can be booked individually or as a pair, making them as suitable for couples as they are for families and groups of friends, whether on a self-drive tour or a fly-in itinerary. Their intimate tranquillity is perfect for honeymooners and special romantic arrangements such as cut flowers, champagne and candlelit dinners can be arranged. Note that the villas share a spacious lounge area and small but well-stocked library although each has a private swimming pool.
Each of Namibia’s two distinct seasons offers a unique and spectacular experience. The best game viewing and most comfortable climate is during the May to October dry season. Much of Etosha’s wildlife is concentrated near waterholes, making them excellent ambush points for predators. Etosha's June to August winter nights are cold (you will need warm clothes for game drives) but September and October are extremely hot and arid though the game viewing is often considered best at this time.
November's rainstorms herald the wet season and there are regular downpours, interspersed with long sunny periods, until April. Photography is superb at this time thanks to beautiful cloud formations and the clear, washed air. Animals spread out across the park and the grass grows tall, making them more difficult to spot but this is the birthing season for zebra, springbok, impala and wildebeest - predator action is never far away.
Villa Mushara falls within a malaria area so visitors are advised to consult their physician prior to travel for the most appropriate medication.
The modern kitchen is in complete contrast with the villa's rugged setting but makes the perfect place for your personal chef to create sumptuous cuisine for you throughout your stay, served whenever and wherever you like. Meals can also be enjoyed at Mushara Lodge.
Individually-designed and elegantly-furnished en suite bedroom takes pride of place in each villa. The suites’ 4-poster beds are draped in muslin mosquito nets and there is ample dressing space. African elements are echoed in the dark, earthy tones, creating a comfortable and cosy ambience while air conditioning, ceiling fans, soft armchairs and mini-bars add creature comforts.
Spacious en suite bathrooms with smooth stone basins, luxurious stand-alone bath tubs and beautiful brass fittings echo the colonial style of Mushara Villa. By night, light a candle chandelier as you unwind in the tub after a day’s game viewing.
A large lounge and dining area serves both villas. Plush sofas, antique furniture and colonial pieces add a touch of Afro-chic, while a large dining table promises convivial dining with friends. A private library offers a diversion on a sleepy afternoon, and a cosy fireplace makes the perfect place to swap stories around on a cold winter’s night.
Each of the villas opens onto a terrace and private plunge pool where you can relax on sun loungers and watch animals drink from the nearby waterhole. A secluded thatched area is perfect for friends and family to gather for sundowners at the end of the day.
